Day 1: Holland – Dubai 06-02-2013
Today we are leaving to Schiphol to go to South Africa. We had to leave at 8;30 from home. My parents and grandparents went with me to say goodbye. On our way to Schiphol there were a lot of traffic jams, so the trip was a little bit longer as expected. When we arrived at Schiphol, we came together as a group and said goodbye to our parents, then we went to the gate. I walked with Sem to some shops and had my breakfast, I brought a small music box so we could listen music. We put it on our luggage and listened to music at Schiphol. And we set ourselve in a lounge with nice chairs and a big fireplace.
Our airplane left at 14;50 to Dubai, the airplane had some arrears so we had to wait for ten minutes. But finally we leaved Holland and went to Dubai.
Day 2: Dubai – South Africa 07-02-2013
We just arrived at Dubai Airport and we were all amazed how big it was, there were cars that you could win. And not cars like a Volkswagen, no like Jaguars. We had a stopover in Dubai and within a few hours we went on to South Africa. Everybody wanted something to eat so we went to the Burger King. When we arrived at the gate we could immediately step into the airplane. This airplane was far older as the first airplane, because we flew in the evening. I slept a lot this flight because I was tired. We were awake for already 24 hours.
When we arrived at Cape Town Airport we wear the same shirt with our name on it. When we were allowed to leave the airport our buddies were waiting for us. This was a nice surprise, they came with there new school bus so we could drive with them to Genadendal. When we finally arrived in Genadendal we were free to do what we want. First everybody arranged their bed and after that we played some games like “Weerwolf”. Everybody was very tired and wanted to sleep early, but we had a disco at Emil Weder. Nobody wanted to go, but when we were inside everybody was dancing.
